Coke has partnered with a new player in the social media circle, Posterous. Coke is one of Posterous' first "clients" and will put the Posterous brand in front of millions. See how Coke is using Posterous for it's "Dept of Fannovation"
Posterous, unlike Twitter, is not a micro-blogging platform. Here is one snippet from their site:
Posterous lets you post things online fast using email. You email us at post @ posterous.com and we reply instantly with your new posterous blog. If you can use email, you can have your own website to share thoughts and media with friends, family and the world. Posterous is NOT a micro blog. There's nothing micro about it! There are no limits to what you can post. We're here to build the best web publishing platform out there, whether it's your gateway to Twitter, your family website, or your pro blog. There's nothing Posterous can't do
Posterous can either act as a buddy to services like Twitter, Facebook or even your current blog. It can create private pages, groups and if you send an email with multiple photo attachments, it will automatically convert them into a simple, but functional photo gallery. Currently it is free, but they have plans to make a "premium" service more suited to pro bloggers and companies.
Another thing to mention, if you post a link to a YouTube video, Posterous automatically turns the URL into an embeded video player - pretty nice.
